Finding the Best Places to Travel with a Baby

Traveling with adults is very different than traveling with children. We’ve got some suggestions for the best places to travel with a baby for you to try.

Getaway Well with Your Whole Family – Even the Littlest Members

Getting away by yourself or with your peers can feel like a breeze, especially if none of your group are high-maintenance travelers, but it’s a very different type of experience traveling with children. And we’re not just talking about the challenges of getting kids to eat healthy on vacation.

Even if the kids that you’re going away with aren’t your own, it’s helpful to know some tricks for how to improve your travel experience, and where you should think about visiting if you’re going to be bringing along your littlest travel companions.

With that in mind, we’ve got some suggestions for how to make your travel experience a bit easier when going away with small children, and then we’ll talk about our selection of the 30 best places to travel with a baby.

What makes traveling with a baby easier?

Take our suggestions, and you’ll be ready to tackle a world of adventure with your tiny travel buddies.

What Makes Traveling with a Baby Easier?

There are a few accessories that you can get for yourself or the baby’s parents (i.e., incredible gift ideas), but we think that these are some of the most useful travel accessories you can consider picking up for your trip:

Baby Ear Protection

Planning to attend a festival or concert during your trip that may involve loud music? These ear protectors will give your baby a break from all the noise, and help them keep them happy, so you can both enjoy the show.

Baby Diaper Bag Backpack

Carrying all the toiletries that you need to keep your baby in a dry diaper and out of bum rash territory means a purse just won’t cut it. If you’ve got a lot of exciting, physically intensive activities planned for you and your baby, this useful backpack will make bringing all your necessities along with a breeze.

Lightweight Stroller

When you’ve got a lot of walking on the agenda, you don’t want to have to carry your baby in your arms the entire day. It might seem like a good workout on the first day, but by the second, your arms will be telling a different story. Avoid unnecessary soreness with a lightweight stroller that’s portable and easy to use.

How to Choose the Best Places to Travel with a Baby

The kinds of things that you plan on doing at your destination will have a fairly large impact on the comfort of a baby, as well as how cooperative they’ll be inclined to be. Babies can get mad over basically anything, it’s best not to give them any extra reasons to cry.

This means that you need to think about how the activities you want to plan will affect your littlest travel companions. If you think it may be challenging for them, depending on their temperament and the activities you have in mind, you may want to reconsider alternatives.

Pick destinations and identify why this is a good choice to travel to with a baby

Taking that into account, our 30 best places to travel with a baby try to consider factors at each location that your young ones will also enjoy or will help make your trip a bit easier on you while letting it remain enjoyable and memorable.

The 30 Best Places to Travel with a Baby

1.) Muskoka – Ontario, Canada

Cottage country is one of the best places to travel with a baby in our opinion because if you get a cottage that has all your normal amenities, it can make taking care of a baby much easier than staying in a hotel room.

Rent a picturesque cottage on the water somewhere in Muskoka, stock up on all the necessities, and enjoy a quiet vacation by the lake with your baby.

2.) Vail – Colorado, USA

Hiking the mountains may not be the first thing that you think of when you’re planning a trip with your little one, but this is a popular option for parents with young children.

There’s a company called ‘Travel Vail Baby’ that specializes in renting the equipment you could need to make mountain hiking much easier with a baby. Talk about convenience!

3.) Montego Bay – Jamaica

If you’re looking for an island destination that will work well for your baby, then Jamaica should be up fairly high on your list. There are some resorts in Jamaica that you can visit that offer complimentary child care during the day.

This means if you and your partner would like a little romantic time for yourselves (or you both just want a day at the spa to pamper yourself), this is one of the best places for you to travel with a baby.

4.) New York City – New York, USA

Ready to go out and see the sights of the Big Apple? Well, don’t leave your little one with their grandparents, take them along with you for the journey! There’s lots to see, plus plenty of delicious food for you to eat (and them to share if you’re breastfeeding).

The kinds of things that you plan on doing at your destination will impact the comfort of your baby

New York City has lots of things to see, and with a lightweight stroller like the one we suggested earlier, you’ll have no problem visiting all five boroughs over the course of a few days.

5.) Orlando – Florida, USA

An extremely popular tourist destination, Orlando not only offers a variety of amusement parks to check out but lots of delicious dining options for the whole family.

6.) Dublin – Ireland, United Kingdom

Getting away from North America for a bit, consider an overseas adventure to one of Ireland’s most beautiful cities, Dublin.

8.) Stockholm – Sweden

Another international destination that offers some very unique architecture, Stockholm can offer a surprising number of things to do for you and your youngest.

10.) Belize – Central America

If you have a love of history, you should consider Belize one of the best places to travel with a baby, because there are actual Mayan Ruins that you can visit and explore.

Just because you’re traveling with your baby, doesn’t mean that you still can’t take a dream vacation to somewhere like Hawaii.

Honolulu has plenty of baby-friendly accommodations and spots to visit that will allow you to take in the Hawaiian culture, without putting too much strain on your young one which could lead to potential meltdowns.

12.) Minneapolis – Minnesota, USA

If there are a few places in the United States that are known for going out of their way to be nice to one another, it’s cities in Minnesota.

For parents with fussier babies, you’ll find a lot of people here that have patience for young ones like you won’t find in some other locations. Plus, if you go in the winter, Minneapolis has an amazing ice palace that you and your youngest can explore together.

13.) Barbados – Caribbean Sea

Want to spend some time relaxing on the beach with your baby and getting them used to swim in the ocean? Barbados would be one of the best places for you to travel with a baby then.

Another island destination that’s got plenty of stunning, sandy beaches to explore, and if you’re going on vacation between January to March, one of your best options for good seasonal weather.

16.) Tasmania – Australia

Australia has a lot of baby-friendly locations that you may want to visit eventually, but if this is your first time visiting the country, we’d suggest checking out Tasmania.

17.) Puerto Vallarta – México

For parents that are planning a trip South of the border, Puerto Vallarta is one of the best places to travel with a baby in our opinion.

The locals are very friendly, and it wouldn’t be uncommon for tourists with babies to stop so that the locals can admire and fawn over them. That’s the kind of welcoming, community atmosphere we love to see on vacation!

18.) Toronto – Ontario, Canada

Like New York City, but North of the border, Canada’s capital may be Ottawa, but for many people, Toronto is Canada’s capital city of culture.

Enjoying trip with your little ones

19.) Anywhere – Italy

This is the only time we won’t suggest a specific place within a larger country, because there’s no bad place to visit in Italy. The entire country is packed full of culture, excellent sights to see, delicious food, and warm, welcoming people who love children.

Winter trips are wonderful in Italy because there are lots of festivals and Christmas Markets that you can explore, in addition to all of the incredible things you can already see in Italy.

20.) Paris – France

The capital of France, Paris is one of the most beautiful areas in Europe, and their rich cultural heritage (as well as their rich food) are fantastic for people of all ages, including babies.

Take your youngest to the Louvre, or have a picnic at the base of the Eiffel Tower. There’s plenty to do, so how busy your trip becomes depends on you (and how much your baby can tolerate). In either case, we think this city is definitely one of the best places to travel with a baby, no matter which time of year you’re going.

21.) Lake Louise – Alberta, Canada

Of all the gorgeous places to visit in Canada’s wide, sprawling landscape, we think Lake Louise has got to be near the top of that list.

Take your youngest on a stroll around the ground and bask in the one-of-a-kind view that Lake Louise affords visitors. That alone makes this one of the best places to travel with a baby.

22.) Washington – D.C, USA

23.) Charleston – South Carolina, USA

Got a hankering for some sweet tea? You’ll get your fill when you plan a trip to Charleston, where walking is a lot more enjoyable than driving.

25.) Blue Mountain Resort – Ontario, Canada

Located near the beautiful Collingwood area in Ontario, Canada, Blue Mountain is one of the most lavish and comfortable resorts that you can find in Canada.

26.) The Island of Crete – Greece

There are tons of great places that you’ll probably want to visit while you’re in Greece (not to mention the delicious food you’ll want to eat), but if you’ve got a baby with you, consider spending some of your trip on the Island of Crete.

With plenty of kid-friendly beaches, you can surprise your little one by taking them to Elafonisi Beach, where they’ll be able to play in pink sand.

27.) London – England, United Kingdom

Big Ben, London Tower, the London Bridge, Buckingham Palace – you’re never too young to be introduced to all the beautiful sights to be found in London.

Do your toddlers love trains, buses, and cars? Then you should take them to check out the famous Transport Museum, where there’s enough to look at to keep them busy for a whole afternoon. Definitely a reason why London is one of the best places to travel with a baby.

28.) Cascais – Portugal

This may not have popped up on the list of best places to travel with a baby that you had in mind when you started this list, but we’re here to tell you, it’s a fantastic option.

We’d suggest even staying at Martinhal Cascais, where the accommodations offer special baby-friendly options, like bottle sterilizers, baby gates, and even door handle protectors. Extra safety means extra relaxation for you during your stay.

29.) San Antonio – Texas, USA

Texas has a handful of fantastic family-friendly destinations like its amazing zoo with plenty of interesting animals to explore or take the children’s train that leads to the DoSeum – a perfectly designed, interactive museum designed for kids.
